I am a working mom and I work from home, I write on my blog, I write for others.. I love it!
It’s super awesome, rewarding and I love it most of the days, (please read again, most of the days, not all days) But I don’t like one thing about working from home. People around me think I don’t have a real job just because I stay home all day!
Even if I tell somebody I work from home, they always tell me;
“When are you gonna get a real job?” I mean hold on a minute, I already have a job OKAY!
“Wao this is awesome, you don’t even need to get dressed and work in pajamas all day!” Are you really asking me this? Do you mean I don’t even shower?

“I wish I could work from home and sleep anytime I want!” This is the biggest lie people.. We don’t get to sleep whenever we want while working from home because we don’t have any breaks or fixed hours to work.
People have so many misconceptions about working from home!
There are a lot of misconceptions about working from home. Nobody knows the real struggles and truths of working from home because they think its easy and not a real job. But let me tell you all today, that being a working mom who works from home, it is even harder than working in an office.
The hardest part, you don’t work from 9 to 5 anymore instead you work 24/7. While washing dishes, while making lunch, even during brushing your teeth, you are reading emails and messages.

Then the guilt overcomes when you work from home!
The guilt of sitting in the same spot for several hours!
Guilty of not doing the dishes because you had to complete a project!
Guilty of saying no to meetups because you have to reach the deadlines.
The guilt of not playing with my kid and writing instead.
But still, I love working from home. I just want people to understand that people who work from home are not free all the time and they are not available 24/7 too.
Pros vs cons of working from home!
There are many benefits and of course disadvantages of working from home. If you ask me one thing that helped me in maintaining my sanity while working from home, that would be getting organized and plan everything ahead and not listening to what people think. Its tough, in fact, tougher than you think but this is what you need to bring stability to your work routine and to keep motivation alive.
So do you work from home? If yes, I am sure you can relate to this post 🙂
Do let me know what you think 🙂
