This summer is not the same as all the summers we have spent before. This summer, there are no celebrations, no parties, no picnics, no barbeques, and no traveling. But I am changing one thing! I am going to be a YES MOM this summer.
And you should too! Do you know why? Here is why?
Because everything is so uncertain for everybody out there. Our world has fallen apart because of the pandemic and it’s not going anytime soon. So why don’t we make the best of it by saying yes more often and by enjoying it!
Because this summer you are not taking your kids to the game in the playground or a theme park. There are no pool parties.
This is hard for us. But this is even harder for our kids. They have been into social distancing for more than 3 months now and they are stronger than us.
Don’t believe it? Ask your kids. They are handling it so much better.
But I see the doubt on their faces and questions in their minds.
When is this going to be over mama?
When are we traveling to see nana?
When are the schools going to open?
When can I see my friends?
And I have no answers because I don’t know!
But in the middle of this uncertainty and mess, I am sure of one thing. This summer, I am gonna be a YES mom.
I love schedules and keeping track of my routines is my favorite part. But this summer, this is all falling apart. There are no routines anymore. Our plans have ruined. Schools are giving online classes and its hard to keep track of everything.
We have all the time in this world to do everything. But we cannot any anywhere. We cannot travel. We have actually nothing else to do but to live with it. I am taking this chance to improve my relationship with my kids.
You can do that too and focus on good parts, instead of the bad parts you know. Embrace this and make the best of it. Maybe you don’t get time like this again ever. So do you want to regret not loving this time with your kids?
Obviously no!
So choose to say yes.
Be a yes mom and enjoy it.
Stay in your pajamas all day and rock it.
Dance with your kids and play that music louder.
Play in the mud and make castles in your backyard.

Paint with your kids and let it be a mess.
Eat dinner in your living room if you want.
Deep inside I know, I don’t want that mess but I have to be a yes mom. Because this is the only way I am going to survive it. ?

I know what you mean. Often my kids would say, will you read this book to me mom? And I would think I have so much to do but I always said yes to spending quality time with them because I figure they won’t ask for that forever and that is what it is all about:)
Yeah exactly 🙂
