December is ending.. Few weeks to go and we will officially land into the year 2019!
So I am sitting here, thinking if this year made me happy, content, grateful and mature. I would definitely say YES! You know what I did? I will tell you today how to find happiness and be content.
I lived in the moment instead of yearning for something better. I enjoyed the things life offered me this year and didn’t expect much from people, from life, from this world. I just lived and enjoyed the moments.
This is a magic mantra..appreciating gratefulness makes you happy. It makes you get over the past and allows you to just think beyond material things. Because happiness always comes from within.
I learned a lot this year.. Few of the things I really wanted to share with you all are here. I did this all a lot of times and every time I felt happier. I hope you all find these ways to be happy, helpful. Let me know what you guys think about this
Call a good and old friend of yours
We all use Facebook and Instagram and Twitter and don’t even call friends anymore. I wonder sometimes, why don’t we do that? Because I do that all the time. If somebody is important to you, why don’t you call them and tell them that? Enjoy the conversation even if it’s for a few minutes.
Enjoy small things in life
So when was the last time you went for a walk just to fetch a cup of ice cream? Do it. If the weather is nice, go outside. If it’s raining, get wet. There is a cute cat or puppy, play with them. Somebody has a cute baby, compliment them. Somebody is looking good, tell them.
Don’t dwell on the past
If you will keep thinking about the past, it won’t allow you to live in the present or even try for a better future ahead. You cannot change the past so focusing on something that won’t help you in any way will just drain your energy and ruin your happiness. So STOP thinking about the past.
Don’t underestimate the power of exercise
Do you know that exercising releases happiness hormones? When you do some exercise, your brain releases monoamines and endorphins and you feel good. Your skin glows, you feel better. Exercise helps in reducing stress and anxiety so why do you spend all your weekend on that lazy couch? Go do some exercise.
Keep ZERO expectations
I have learned this thing this year that having ZERO expectations actually makes me happier. When I don’t expect, I don’t suffer a heartbreak when somebody doesn’t fulfill my level of expectations. So no expectations mean happiness.
Holding grudges
Do you know if you hold grudges against somebody, who is the one suffering? It’s you! Nobody else! So don’t keep hurt, anger or bad feelings about anybody. If somebody has done wrong to you, leave it to them. Just do good to everyone and forgive. Don’t give them another chance to hurt you again. But also don’t hold any grudges or angry feelings that will only snatch your peace and happiness.
Don’t play blame games
Never blame others for the problems that you have. Take responsibility and when things go wrong, don’t blame others instead work harder, work smarter and next time try to fulfill your own expectations.
Be fearless
Being afraid is a human nature. All of us get afraid of what might happen or what might not happen. The fear of unseen is right but don’t let it stop you from doing something you love. Do anything to get your goals and never let your fear restrict you. Remember, today will never come again.
I believe that happiness is a choice and it’s not impossible to make it. We just need to find moments of happiness in our everyday life instead of looking for big material happiness things. Don’t abandon those small happy moments for bigger goals. Remember, today is the time.. Today is the moment to change your mindset
Lots of love,
Saima, A Supertired Mom.
